DENVER Sustainability Symposium 18
Updated: Nov 28, 2018
We travelled to Denver to attend an interesting one day event focusing on how the Cannabis industry is working to operate in a sustainable way.
We chose to sit in some discussions on healthy organic soil and fertilisers. A wide variety of bio-pesticides and fungicides were explained.
We then moved on to a break out group focusing on pest control using bugs. It was good to see similar methods that we are familiar with from our time in the Dutch greenhouses being used so successfully.
We were happy to see a familiar face up on the next panel table. This discussion covered what efforts are being made locally, statewide and also nationally to monitor and educate the benefits on sustainable growing techniques. It seems a key factor in doing that is data collection and reporting. Seeing the numbers and how that relates into future savings and profits is just one of the motivations to adopt these green practices.
Our final chosen discussion topic was Social Responsibility moving forward and how to fix the past. An interesting subject. It is important that people and communities damaged by the war on drugs are now helped to participate in the Cannabis industry and also have their criminal records for Cannabis offences removed so they are no longer discriminated against by the system.
We loved Denver and the hospitality of our friends at Cannabiz Media.
We look forward to returning soon.
